MDA Lube-A-Thon
Des Moines Jiffy Lubes Host Lube-A-Thon to Help Send Kids to MDA Summer Camp
On April 20, 2008 two of the Des Moines, Iowa Jiffy Lube service centers participated in a Lube-A-Thon to raise money for MDA. In just 6 hours, Jiffy Lube and the Des Moines community raised $2400.00. “We were very proud to have the support of our vendors and employees. All the product, prizes and time were donated for the day, making it possible for the entire proceeds to go to MDA,” said Aimee Carlson with Ord Enterprises. These donations will make it possible for 3 children to attend Camp Courageous at no charge.
Every June, MDA sponsors a summer camp program for children with Muscular Dystrophy. Camp Courageous is in Monticello, IA. “ The children and families look forward to the summer camp all year. It is one time that the children can participate in activities without their wheel chairs,” said Denise Kincaide from MDA.
The Des Moines and Council Bluffs, Iowa Jiffy Lubes have been sponsors for raising money for MDA for six years.
